Re-introducing for Fall 2012? Vintage structured items. I mean tough structured items that have lasted the test of time and continue to bring use and joy to our lives.
What will be “in” for Fall 2012 in the style category? In the category of mover and shakers who start styles of their own? The ones forging new paths? What screams “I’m different” more than something different? Something not everyone can have? And something inexpensive? How about unique accessories from the mid century– yes! Go to your local antique store and pick yourself out a classic and vintage handbag or belt with some structure. Think Hermes and Gucci.
Too much for your budget? Me too (unless you get lucky enough to come across an amazing piece from a great designer for a fraction of the cost!)
So find yourself a well-constructed bag, belt or money clip for Fall from a no-name designer to fit the bill.
I found an amazing crocodile belly Alfred Roth handbag from the 1980s with great structure! Think long-term, both Hermes and Gucci have continue to kill it in the fashion industry, vintage items included. What do they and other design houses/designers like Louis Vuitton and Herman Miller have in common? Longevity. So think long-term, spend a little more than you normally would and find yourself a classic piece you will be able to use for the next 20 years or more…
